Born within a mile of Celtic Park, Tommy Burns lived the dream.

"A fan who got lucky" he said.

But he was more than that. Dedicated from a very young age, kicking a ball about the backstreets of Glasgow's east end, honing his skills. He didn't get lucky. Through hard work and determination, coupled with God-given talent, he fulfilled every supporters dream by playing for, and managing, the club he loved.

Tommy Burns will be forever remembered as a true Celtic legend.

The Painting

The title says it all.  Man and Bhoy. This painting captures the person at every stage in his illustrious Celtic career.

With a backdrop of Paradise on another famous European night, we see the starry eyed boy ,destined for greatness and the fiery flame haired winger making his breakthrough. He becomes the mature midfielder, then the full back, using all his experience to prolong his career at the club he loved.

Then there is the manager, whose team epitomised playing football the Celtic Way. And finally there is Tommy the elder statesman. Older, wiser, contented, still working for his beloved hoops.

There are also two memorable moments from his distinguished playing career. A stunning strike against Rangers and his first goal against Sporting Lisbon in what is considered to be his finest performance in Europe.

The original painting is owned by Rosemary Burns and limited edition prints are available.  Proceeds from the sale of these prints will go to the Tommy Burns Skin Cancer Trust.
