The Artist

Born in the east end of Glasgow, a cornerkick from Celtic Park, George Smith is a lifelong Celtic suporter.
His love of the club shines out from his exquisitely detailed canvases, a passion that can only be captured by a true fan.
In recent years has become a full time professional artist and specialises in painting the club he loves - Celtic FC.
His work can be seen at his gallery in Parkhead Cross.
Several players, past and present' own his work. For the last 10 years the Celtic Supporters Association has commissioned George to paint portraits of the Player of the year and also the guest of honour. They also asked him to produce a large 7 x 4 ft painting which is the centrepiece of the Tommy Burns Lounge at their club on London Road.
Recently, at a Celtic Foundation fundraising dinner in New York, Neil Lennon and Rod Stewart were presented with original paintings by George.
You may have seen the 2 lifesize paintings (above) previously in the No 7 Restaurant but now in the foyer at the entrance to the Kerrydale Lounge at Celtic Park.
